WHAT IS A FUNCTION GENERATOR?

A function generator (Fgen/FuncGen) can output standard waveforms such as sine, rectangle, triangle or trapezoid. In general, the voltage/current as well as the frequency/duration of the output signal can be freely adjusted.

This distinguishes the function generator from the Arbitrary Waveform Generator (ArbGen), which can also output freely definable waveforms.
